Businessman and politician Kennedy Agyapong has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the Mamponghene and a prominent traditional ruler in the Ashanti Region. In a solemn statement, Agyapong paid tribute to the late chief, describing him as a pillar of wisdom and leadership in Asanteman and beyond.
“I am saddened by the news of the passing of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, Mamponghene, occupant of Asanteman’s silver stool,” Agyapong stated.
He praised the Mamponghene’s decades-long commitment to public service, noting his significant contributions to national development and traditional leadership. Daasebre Osei Bonsu II served prominently in the National House of Chiefs and played a key role in promoting unity and cultural preservation in Asanteman.
“He was a great advocate for good governance, respect for rule of law, political tolerance, and economic empowerment—particularly for the youth,” Agyapong noted.
Describing the chief’s passing as a “tragic loss not just for Asanteman but Ghana at large,” Agyapong extended heartfelt condolences to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Mamponghemaa Nana Agyakoma Difie II, the Asanteman Council, the National House of Chiefs, the chief’s family, and the people of Asante Mampong.
The passing of Daasebre Osei Bonsu II marks the end of an era of revered traditional leadership, and his legacy is expected to continue influencing the region for generations to come.
