Ken Agyapong’s Campaign Warns Bawumia’s Camp Over KOKA’s “Insults”

The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, has issued a stern warning to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s camp, accusing his loyalists of engaging in personal attacks against the Assin Central MP.

In a strongly worded statement signed by the campaign’s Communications Director, Kwaku Amoh-Darteh, Esq., the Agyapong camp condemned recent remarks by Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as “KOKA.” The comments, made on Wontumi Television, were described as “vicious and unprovoked attacks” on the person of Hon. Agyapong.

The statement questioned Dr. Bawumia’s image as a “peaceful leader,” arguing that his silence in the face of what it called “intimidation, bullying and abusive rhetoric” from his followers amounted to tacit approval.

“It is therefore both astonishing and hypocritical for any of Dr. Bawumia’s followers to portray him as a ‘peaceful person’ while his camp tolerates and benefits from, intimidation, bullying and abusive rhetoric,” the statement read.

The campaign warned that it would not allow “reckless defamation” to go unanswered, adding that any attempts to drag the NPP flagbearership race “into the gutter of personal vilification” would provoke consequences.

Despite the warning, the Agyapong team reaffirmed its commitment to running an issue-based campaign, stressing that it would continue to “defend truth, protect integrity and speak for the grassroots” of the NPP.

“We will continue to preach peace, unity and discipline within the New Patriotic Party, but peace must not be mistaken for weakness and unity must not be confused with cowardice,” the statement concluded.

The development highlights growing tensions within the ruling party ahead of its upcoming flagbearership race, as camps loyal to the two leading contenders, Dr. Bawumia and Hon. Agyapong, intensify their campaigns.
