GCB Bank has announced the temporary closure of several of its branches in Kumasi on Thursday, September 18, 2025, in line with a directive from the Manhyia Palace regarding the burial of the late Asantehemaa.
The affected branches include Kumasi Main, Kejetia, Sofo Line, Asafo Market, Suame Magazine, Bantama, Jubilee House, Ahinsan, Tech Junction, and KNUST.
In a statement, the bank assured customers that its Ejisu and Nkawie branches will remain open to serve the public during the closure. Normal banking operations across all branches in the Ashanti regional capital will resume on Friday, September 19, 2025.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage our customers to make use of our nearby branches and alternative channels, including ATMs, mobile banking, and internet banking services during this period,” GCB Bank said.
The closure is part of broader arrangements to honour the memory of the late Asantehemaa, whose burial is expected to draw large numbers of mourners and dignitaries to Kumasi.
GCB Bank expressed appreciation to its customers for their understanding and continued loyalty.
