Asante Kotoko have officially announced the departure of goalkeeper Fredrick Asare following the expiration of his contract with the club.
The Porcupine Warriors confirmed the news in a brief statement on Thursday, expressing their gratitude to the shot-stopper for his service and commitment to the team during his stay in Kumasi.
“Asante Kotoko can confirm that goalkeeper Fredrick Asare has left the club following the expiration of his contract,” the club wrote. “We wish Fred the very best for the future.”

Asare joined Kotoko in 2022 from Accra Lions and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the club’s most reliable goalkeepers. His agility, composure, and strong reflexes earned him praise from fans and pundits alike. Over his spell at the club, he featured prominently in domestic competitions and played a key role in helping the club maintain its competitive edge in the Ghana Premier League.
The 25-year-old also earned national recognition, having been invited to the Black Stars camp on a few occasions as he continued to build his profile as one of Ghana’s promising goalkeepers.
His departure marks the beginning of a new chapter for both player and club, with fans now eager to see where his next destination will be. For Kotoko, the focus will shift to securing a strong replacement as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Fredrick Asare leaves Asante Kotoko with the best wishes of the club and its supporters.
