The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested five individuals in connection with an armed robbery at a mining site in Dompim, located in the Western Region of Ghana.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred when five armed men stormed the mining site, firing gunshots and robbing workers of gold concentrate. The swift response of workers at the scene led to the immediate arrest of one of the suspects, Akwasi Abban, who was apprehended during the attack.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Akwasi Abban confessed to participating in the robbery. In his statement to the police, he disclosed that Ebenezer Soore, the site foreman, had allegedly provided vital information to the gang, facilitating the robbery operation. Following this revelation, Soore was arrested as an alleged accomplice.

The Police further intensified their investigation, leading to the arrest of the remaining three suspects on June 2, 2025. They have been identified as:
- Elijah Arthur, alias Possible
- Elisha Arthur, alias Skonzy
- David Agyarko, alias Big Man
All five suspects have been arraigned before court and have since been remanded into prison custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Western Central Regional Police Command assured the public of its commitment to ensuring justice is served and reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining law and order across the region.
Residents and stakeholders in the mining community have applauded the police for the timely arrests and have called for enhanced security measures at mining sites to prevent similar attacks in the future.
