TVET is not a dumping ground for underperforming students-Regional Minister

Mrs Justina Marigold Assan, Central Regional Minister, has urged Ghanaians to eschew the misconception that TVET was meant for non-performing students. She said this misguided notion had led to lack of appreciation for the value of what TVET stood for individuals, communities, and the nation. The Member of Parliament (MP)for Ellembele, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has presented a new pick-up vehicle valued at GHc850,000.00 to the Uthman Bin Affan Islamic Senior High School (UBAISH) at Kamgbunli in the Western Region.  The donation followed an appeal to his office by the headmaster and staff of the school since the breakdown of the only school bus. Ghana Shea Workers Union inaugurated 

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has inaugurated the Ghana Shea Workers Union (GSWU) as an affiliate to the General Agricultural Workers’ Union (GAWU). The GSWU is to help increase productivity, and ecosystems for decent work project in the shea industry. The Volta Regional Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee on Sanitation, has declared five communities in the Agotime-Ziope District as open defecation free areas. SD Dombo University graduates 2,321 students at 3rd congregation ceremony 

The SD Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) has graduated 2,321 students, comprising 1,448 undergraduate and 873 postgraduate students, at its 3rd congregation ceremony. The number represented about 34 per cent increase over 1,513 students who graduated last year. Manhyia receives 28 more looted artefacts

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, The Asantehene, has taken delivery of 28 gold artefacts looted during the Sagrenti War at a grand durbar at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. This formed part of activities to make the 100th anniversary celebration of the return King Prempeh I from exile. Representative of AngloGold Ashanti who purchased the artefacts from an art collector at West African works in 1922, handed over the ornaments to the King of Asante, bringing the total number of restituted Asante artifacts from the British plunder in the 1900s to 67. UCC alumni organises free health screening, donates GHC5,000 to orphanage home 

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) old students, led by the biological and physical science alumni, has organised a free health screening and donated GHC5,000 to Center for Hope Charity aid.  As part of the alumni’s humanitarian effort, it donated fifteen bags of 25kg rice, 2 cartons of vegetable oil, 2 cartons of sardines, tissues, milk and milo.  The free health screening included checking of blood pressure, glucose, and breast cancer among others. The event held at the premises of Center for hope charity aid, in Accra, was in partnership with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). Technical Universities Workers’ Pension Scheme investment increases 24.60 per cent in 2023

The Ghana Universities Workers' Pension Scheme investment return increased from GHc 137.02 million in 2022 to GHc 198.35 million in 2023. The figure represents 24.60 per cent for the 2023 financial year as compared to 21.20 per cent in 2022. Professor Solomon Abekah Keelson, the Board Chairman, Ghana Universities Workers' Pension Scheme announced this at the Scheme's maiden stakeholder engagement in Accra. Professor Keelson said the Scheme's benefits decreased by 5.16 per cent to GHc 5.02 million at the end of 2023 compared to GHc 5.29 million in 2022.
