Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC has officially announced the contract extension of their first-choice goalkeeper and captain, Benjamin Asare, in a deal that will keep him at the club for another two years.
The announcement, made by the Board and Management of the club, comes after a successful meeting between Asare and the club’s Board of Directors earlier today. Asare, who joined Hearts of Oak from Great Olympics last season, has become a key figure in the team’s recent successes both on and off the pitch.
Since his arrival, the shot-stopper has made a significant impact, showcasing top-notch goalkeeping skills and exceptional leadership that have earned him the captain’s armband and a call-up to the Ghana Black Stars, where he now serves as the national team’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Speaking on the contract extension, the Executive Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, praised Asare for his commitment, discipline, and exemplary character. He commended the goalkeeper’s leadership and encouraged the rest of the squad to emulate his professionalism and dedication.
“Benjamin Asare has shown what it means to be a true Phobian—his work ethic, discipline, and passion for the game are evident every time he steps on the pitch. We are proud of him and we believe this new deal will inspire others in the team to work harder,” Togbe Afede said.
Reacting to the contract extension, Asare expressed his gratitude to the club for the trust and opportunity granted him.
“I feel really excited to have been given the opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in world football,” Asare said. “Hearts of Oak has lifted my image, and the only way to repay the confidence they have shown in me is to extend my contract, give my all on the pitch, and contribute to the continued success of the team.”
He also used the opportunity to rally his teammates, urging them to stay focused and dedicated as the club pushes for more achievements.
Benjamin Asare’s extension comes as a major boost for Hearts of Oak, who are aiming for silverware this season and continued dominance in the Ghana Premier League.
