Mr. James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, has donated brand-new laptops to support the secretarial activities of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the region, as well as four other state-owned media institutions.
Beneficiaries of the donation include the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Graphic Communications Group, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), and the Information Services Department.
The gesture forms part of the Minister’s broader efforts to strengthen public communication and support the work of the media in the region.

Presenting the laptops, Mr. Gunu highlighted the vital role of the media in disseminating government policies and developmental initiatives.
He emphasised the need for the media to effectively communicate key regional projects, such as the establishment of the 24-Hour Economy Industrial Hub at Adaklu, the ‘Feed Ghana’ programme, and major road projects like the Ho-Tokor Road—currently at the procurement stage under the President’s ‘Big Push’ agenda.
On the Sea Defence wall, the Regional Minister disclosed that Armandi firm had won entitlement to construct the project to include a cold store and a car park.
He said the Volta Region was fast emerging as a hub for tourism, agriculture, and other sectors, and required strong media coverage to attract investment and promote development.
“The media is a key partner in development, and it is important that we equip them with the tools they need to perform their duties effectively,” he added.
He expects the “media to carry the people along through their reportage.”
Mr. Emmanuel Agbaxode, Chairman of GJA Volta, on behalf of the media houses that received the donation, expressed gratitude to the Minister for the unexpected yet timely donation.
“This came as a surprise to us, and we are truly grateful for your continued support for the media in the region,” he said.
