Vice President Opoku-Agyemang Lauds Accra College of Medicine at 10th Anniversary and 6th Congregation Ceremony

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has praised the Accra College of Medicine (ACM) for a decade of contributions to Ghana’s health sector, urging the institution to expand its national impact as it enters its next phase of growth.

Serving as Guest of Honour at the College’s 10th Anniversary Celebration and 6th Congregation Ceremony, the Vice President described the event as an important moment to honour the graduating class and reflect on ten years of excellence in medical education.

She commended ACM for “shaping doctors who excel in hospitals and communities across Ghana,” highlighting the school’s commitment to widening access, strengthening student support systems, and investing in technological advancement. These efforts, she said, have positioned the institution as a rising force in training high-quality medical professionals.

Speaking on global shifts in health challenges—from pandemics to changing disease patterns—Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stressed that the role of medical practitioners is “more crucial than ever.” She encouraged the College to ensure that the next decade includes expanding its reach, deepening its impact, and leading with purpose.

Addressing the newly graduated doctors, the Vice President applauded their determination, saying their accomplishments reflect both the founding vision of the College and their own discipline. She urged them to prioritise service, particularly in underserved communities where their expertise is urgently needed.

“Your training must guide every decision you make,” she told the graduates, calling on them to uphold the values of empathy, compassion, integrity, and dedication to service—qualities she described as the compass of the Accra College of Medicine.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also emphasized that education remains “one of the most sacred tools for building a nation,” adding that ACM’s decade-long journey is only the beginning of a future filled with potential to transform many more lives.

The ceremony brought together students, faculty, families, and dignitaries to celebrate the institution’s milestones and reaffirm its mission of improving healthcare delivery in Ghana.
