Vice President, Professor Jane Nana Opoku-Agyemang heralds this year’s Central Regional Coordinating Council (CRCC) Trade, Tourism and Investment Expo, dubbed: “Central Expo 2025.”
The Vice President will officially open the fair on Monday, August 25 at the Adisadel school park.
Themed: “Unlocking business opportunities in the Central Region,” the Expo 25, starts on Friday, August 23 to Sunday, 31 and will showcase the region’s vast trade, tourism, and investment opportunities to the world.

The annual week-long event is designed to attract thousands of exhibitors and investors to tap into the economic potential of the region, accelerating its development trajectory.
The expo also serves to enhance international exposure, foster partnerships and support business development, particularly for SMEs, while highlighting the region’s investment prospects to a broad audience including financial and corporate sectors.
The move is a strategic initiative aligned with the CRCC’s Regional Development Strategy and Transformative Agenda to stimulate economic activities and harness the region’s untapped resources.
Facilitating networking opportunities and business forums to explore creative ideas and partnerships, the expo promotes domestic tourism and attract private sector investments, create employment opportunities and empower youth entrepreneurship.
Additionally, it will encourage collaboration among stakeholders to minimise conflicts and promote peace which is conducive for investments to thrive.
The line up for the Expo includes its flagship women and youth in business empowerment forum, free health screening for all, children’s playground whilst parents shop with the best sanitation and health facilities for all.
There will also be evening entertainment and music cultural nights, cooking competition and a local food festival.
The Central Expo is being organised by CRCC in collaboration with the Central Region Development Commission (CEDECOM), the Central Regional House of Chiefs and all 22 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
This partnership will ensure broad-based participation and coordination across the region’s administrative and traditional leadership structures.
The Central Expo was first held in 1998 but took a 24-year break before returning in 2022 as an annual event.
Recent editions, such as Central Expo 2023 and 2024, highlighted sustaining business opportunities, nurturing SMEs, and connecting minds to create business prospects, with participation from local and international exhibitors.
Launching the Expo, Mr Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, the Central Regional Minister vehemently rejected the label of poverty that had long been associated with the region and urged the people to rise and take charge of their future with renewed vigour and determination.
He expressed deep concern and bewilderment over the current state of the region, lamenting that each morning he awoke to nothing but the sight of sunlight, overgrown weeds, and the vast sea.
Such a view, he said, was devoid of the bustling sounds of machinery or the smoke signals of thriving factories that once symbolised progress and prosperity in all emerging economics.
Highlighting the urgent need for economic revival, the Minister pledged a comprehensive initiative to reclaim and revitalise the annual Expo across the various districts.
This event, he emphasised, would serve as a catalyst for attracting investment, showcasing local talent, and stimulating industrial growth.
He called on all stakeholders, government officials, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and particularly the youth to unite in transforming the region into a hub of innovation, productivity and sustainable development.
By working together, he asserted, the region should shed its outdated poverty tag and emerge as a beacon of opportunity and hope for future generations.
The Minister could not comprehend why he woke up each morning seeing only light, weeds, and the sea without hearing machines working and smokes from factories.
Odeefo Amoakwa Boadu VIII, the President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, charged the people to harness trade opportunities in the region.
He encouraged investors to explore the Region’s promising sectors, including agriculture, tourism, and industry, which were ripe for development.
By investing in these areas, he said stakeholders could contribute significantly to the region’s socioeconomic advancement and job creation, thereby fostering sustainable growth.
