The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Tamale has celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body, and Blood of Christ.
The celebration draws focus to the central mystery of the Catholic faith that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist.
This year, the Church marked the feast where all the groups in the church dressed in their colourful uniforms to celebrate the feast.

Very Reverend Father Hilary Pogbeyir, Parish Priest of the Blessed Sacrament Church, who preached the sermon, said the Catholic Church celebrated the Solemnity of Corpus Christi to commemorate the great gift of Jesus which he (Jesus) left for humankind in the most sacred sacrament of the Eucharist.
He said the Catholic church beliefs that the Son of God (Christ) became truly present in the elements of the bread and wine during Mass, and entreated Catholics to renew their commitment to faith in the most Holy sacrament of the Eucharist.
He said Christians were meant to be transformed in such a way that they incarnated God’s love in the unique circumstances of their lives, just as Jesus was God’s love and incarnated in the circumstances of his earthly life.
He said the surest way for this transformation to take effect in a Catholics live was through Christ himself, who is most truly present to them in the Eucharist.
He urged Christians to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ to support the poor and the needy in their communities to receive God’s blessings.
As part of the celebration, the church organized get-together and outdoor games for parishioners after the Holy mass.
