Vice President Highlights 24-Hour Economy Benefits and Reaffirms Commitment to Girls’ Education

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has underscored the tangible impact of government policy on productivity, job creation, and inclusive growth, citing the adoption of the 24-Hour Economy initiative by a new production line as a clear example of how strategic policy can expand operations and unlock economic opportunities.

Speaking during an engagement with industry stakeholders, the Vice President noted that the initiative demonstrates how innovation, efficiency, and strong public–private partnerships can translate policy into real benefits for citizens. She emphasized that sustained economic growth must be anchored in collaborations that deliver measurable outcomes for the people of Ghana.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang also reaffirmed government’s unwavering commitment to girls’ education and dignity, stressing that a girl’s natural biological functions should never be a barrier to her schooling or full potential. In this regard, she highlighted the Free Sanitary Pad Initiative as a key government priority, supported by an allocation of GHS 292.4 million in the 2026 Budget.

She commended the Sunda Group for its donations of sanitary pads, describing the contribution as a meaningful boost to the national effort to keep girls in school and promote menstrual health and hygiene.

Beyond social interventions, the Vice President encouraged Sunda Ghana to deepen its value chain by exploring the use of locally sourced materials in production. According to her, such an approach would ensure that industrial expansion translates into broader benefits for Ghanaians through increased local participation and job creation.

She further called on the company to intensify public education on the proper disposal of sanitary pads and diapers, noting that responsible waste management is critical for hygiene, environmental protection, and public health.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang concluded by stressing that partnerships between government and industry are vital to driving inclusive growth, safeguarding dignity, and building a healthier, more productive Ghana.
