The Management of Tamale Technical University has announced a series of immediate interventions aimed at addressing student welfare concerns following an emergency meeting held with student leaders on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Shi-Naa Iddrisa Yakubu, and addressed to the Presidents of the Graduate Students’ Association (GRASAAG) and the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), the University outlined five key resolutions to ease tensions and foster a conducive academic environment.
Key interventions include:

- Financial Support for SRC Activities – An amount of GHS 400,000 will be transferred to the SRC account before the close of day on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, to support student programs for the academic year.
- Suspension of Fee Increment – The proposed fee increase for continuing students for the 2025/2026 academic year has been suspended. Management said any future adjustments will only be made after broad stakeholder engagement to ensure transparency and fairness.
- Water Supply Enhancement – To address long-standing water challenges in student hostels, the Works and Physical Development Unit has been directed to procure and install five (5) 25,000-liter poly-tanks at strategic locations on campus. The installations are expected to be completed by Friday, October 10, 2025.
- ICT Infrastructure Upgrade – In a bid to strengthen digital resources, the University has approved the procurement of 50 new computers and an expansion of internet bandwidth. The computers are expected to be installed by Friday, October 31, 2025.
- Capital Projects – Management reaffirmed its commitment to infrastructure development, noting that several priority capital projects will begin soon. Students should see visible evidence of new construction projects by October 31, 2025.
The University Management emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue with student leaders and urged all students to return to calm as academic activities resume on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
“These decisive actions demonstrate our commitment to addressing your concerns,” the statement read, adding that the administration remains open for further discussions to ensure sustained progress and prosperity for the University.
Copies of the communiqué were also sent to the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Director of Finance, Director of Internal Audit, Dean of Graduate Students, and Dean of Students’ Affairs.
