The Western North Regional office of the National Peace Council, in collaboration with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has organized a Peace Education and Online Safety sensitization programme for students of Watico Demonstration Junior High School. The outreach programme, held on March 3, 2026, forms part of ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and responsible digital behaviour among young people in the region. Promoting Peaceful Conflict Resolution Students were taken through practical lessons on conflict resolution, responsible behaviour, and the importance of dialogue in resolving disagreements. Two Arrested for Unlawful Possession and Discharge of Firearms at Funeral

The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for the illegal possession and discharge of firearms during a funeral celebration. According to a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of the Regional Police Headquarters, the suspects, identified as Frank Afoko (41) and Kojo Agyapong (31), were apprehended on April 2, 2025, at about 2:00 PM by the Western North Police Intelligence Department. The arrest was carried out with the support of the Formed Police Unit. The police began investigations after a viral video, recorded at a funeral in Attakrom near Bibiani on March 14, 2025, showed several individuals openly firing weapons without legal authorization.
