The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, together with the Cyber Security Authority, has provided fresh updates on several high-profile investigations across the country during a joint press briefing addressed by CID spokesperson Lydia Yaako Donkor.
The briefing highlighted progress in cases involving child abuse, homicide, organized cable theft, and ongoing cold case investigations.
Pastor Arrested in Cape Coast Over Child Abuse Allegations

Police confirmed the arrest of Ebenezer Conduah, a 45-year-old pastor in Cape Coast, on charges of defilement and the production and possession of child sexual abuse materials.
According to the CID, digital devices recovered from the suspect are currently undergoing forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suspect has been remanded into custody and is expected to reappear before court on March 27, 2026.
Five Arrested Over Lynching of Liberian National
In a separate case, the Homicide Unit of the CID has taken over investigations into the death of Austin Tengbeh, a 24-year-old Liberian national who was lynched at Sakumono-Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.
Police say five suspects have been arrested and remanded as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
10 Arrested in ECG Cable Theft Operation in Tema
Meanwhile, a joint intelligence-led operation carried out by the CID Headquarters Operations Unit and the Ministry of Energy at the Kpone Industrial Area in Tema uncovered a large stockpile of stolen Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) service cables.
The operation led to the arrest of 10 suspects, believed to be part of an organized criminal network involved in cable theft and the illegal export of metal.
Authorities say the recovered materials are believed to be part of ongoing nationwide theft of electrical infrastructure.
CID Intensifies Cold Case Investigations
The CID also announced that its Cold Case Unit has stepped up investigations into several unresolved cases, including:
- The disappearance of Paulina Lamisi Akanbodiipo
- The murder of Stella Adzoa Potakey Donkor
- The killing of Anthony Kudzo Ahiamah
- The murder of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley
CID Assures Public of Professional Investigations
Addressing the media, Lydia Yaako Donkor reaffirmed the CID’s commitment to conducting thorough and professional investigations.
She noted that the department remains dedicated to ensuring justice is served while working with relevant agencies to tackle crime across the country.
“The Criminal Investigation Department remains committed to pursuing all investigations with diligence and professionalism,” she stated.
