Ghana Lodges Protest to UN After Attack on Ghanaian Peacekeepers in Lebanon
The Government of Ghana has formally lodged a protest with the United Nations following an attack on Ghanaian peacekeeping troops serving in Southern Lebanon under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which left two soldiers seriously injured.
The protest, submitted on March 6, 2026, was communicated by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on behalf of the Government of Ghana to the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ghanaian Battalion serving with United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) came under attack on March 6, 2026, during operations in Southern Lebanon. Two Ghanaian soldiers sustained serious injuries in the incident.
