Residents of Kasoa Peace Town Appeal to Government to Resume Abandoned Drainage Project
Residents of Peace Town, a fast-growing community in Kasoa, are appealing to the government to resume work on an abandoned drainage system that was started in late 2024 but stalled following the recent change in government.
The drainage project, which was aimed at addressing persistent flooding in the area, was expected to improve sanitation and reduce the health risks associated with stagnant water. However, months after construction equipment left the site, uncovered trenches and partially built drains have become a major concern for residents.
According to community members, the situation has worsened during the rainy season, with floodwater overflowing into homes and streets, making movement difficult and exposing residents to diseases.
