Two Robbery Suspects Arrested in Ahafo Region; IGP Deploys Special Anti-Robbery Team to Pursue Fugitives

The Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested two members of a robbery syndicate that launched coordinated attacks on multiple institutions at Nkasiem on 2nd December 2025. According to police reports, the gang simultaneously targeted a gold buying company and a cocoa buying company, seized two police rifles, and attempted—unsuccessfully—to break into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank, all within the same vicinity. The armed robbers, wielding pump-action guns, also shot and injured a civilian in the thigh during the operation. The victim received medical attention at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem and has since been treated and discharged. President Mahama extends ‘Thank You Tour’ to Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions

President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to take his nationwide “Thank You Tour” to the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions. The President is expected tgin the tour in Bono East on Thursday, May 29, continue to Bono on Friday, May 30 and ends in Ahafo Region on Saturday, May 31. According to a statement issued at the Presidency, the "Thank You Tour" would enable the President to express gratitude to the Chiefs and People of the three regions for their massive support for him and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 General Election. Goaso Municipal Hospital appeals for mortuary refrigerators   

Dr James Ankomah, the Medical Superintendent of the Goaso Municipal Hospital, has appealed for new refrigerators at the facility’s mortuary for body preservation.  He said all the refrigerators at the mortuary were obsolete experiencing mal-functioning and consistent repair works.  In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Goaso, the regional capital, Dr Ankomah said the mortuary required new refrigerators as soon as possible, saying “our refrigerators are too old to preserve bodies”.  He said the frequent repairs works on the refrigerators were draining the coffers of the hospital, worrying that “sometimes we have spent not less GHC30,000 for repairs”.  “The mortuary is even too old, and we need a new facility to preserve the bodies well”, Dr Ankomah s...
