The Ghana Police Service, through the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), has arrested five members of a notorious phone-snatching and armed robbery syndicate operating in parts of Accra and Tema.
The suspects were picked up on December 31, 2025, following intelligence-led investigations that tracked the activities of the gang across multiple communities. According to police sources, the group is believed to be responsible for a series of street, residential, and workplace robberies, often targeting unsuspecting victims.
Investigations indicate that the syndicate operated in several areas, including Oyibi, Spintex, East Legon Hills, Ashaiman, and Kasoa, where residents and workers had raised concerns over rising incidents of phone snatching and violent attacks.

The police say the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on organized crime and restore public confidence in affected communities. Further investigations are underway to establish the full extent of the gang’s operations and to determine whether additional accomplices are involved.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring safety and security and has encouraged residents to continue providing timely information to assist law enforcement in combating crime.
