Nigeria–U.S. Security Cooperation Yields Precision Airstrikes on Terrorist Targets

The Federal Government of Nigeria has confirmed that ongoing security cooperation and intelligence collaboration with international partners, including the United States, has resulted in precision airstrikes against terrorist targets in the country’s North West.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigerian authorities reaffirmed their commitment to structured bilateral and multilateral partnerships aimed at addressing the persistent threat of terrorism and violent extremism. The cooperation, the ministry said, includes intelligence sharing, strategic coordination, and other forms of support conducted in line with international law, mutual respect for sovereignty, and shared security objectives.

The ministry emphasized that all counter-terrorism operations are guided by the protection of civilian lives, the preservation of national unity, and respect for the rights and dignity of all Nigerians, regardless of faith or ethnicity. It stressed that terrorist violence—whether directed at Christians, Muslims, or any other community—remains a direct affront to Nigeria’s values and a threat to international peace and security.

According to the statement, the Federal Government continues to work closely with its partners through established diplomatic and security channels to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their financing and logistics, and prevent cross-border threats. These efforts are also aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s domestic security institutions and intelligence capabilities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured the public that it will maintain engagement with relevant partners and provide updates through appropriate official channels.

The statement was signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, anipr, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.
