Ghana’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr. Kojo Bonsu, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team following their historic victory at the World Universities Football Championship held in Dalian, China, on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
In a statement issued on behalf of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, and the people of Ghana, the ambassador commended the UDS footballers for their “hard work, discipline, and unyielding determination” which led them to secure the prestigious title on the global stage.
“This remarkable achievement is a testament to your dedication and resilience,” Mr. Bonsu stated. “By excelling in this tournament, you have lifted high the flag of Ghana and brought honour not only to your university but to the entire nation.”

The ambassador further praised the players, coaching staff, and management team for their collective effort, noting that their success would serve as “a lasting source of inspiration to young athletes across Ghana” and reinforce values of teamwork, resilience, and excellence.
The victory marks a significant milestone for Ghanaian university sports, as UDS becomes the first Ghanaian university team to win the World Universities Football Championship in China.
