KAAF University Receives Presidential Charter

KAAF University College (KUC), has been granted a Presidential Charter to function as a full fledged and autonomous university. The institution was one of 14 private institutions that received presidential charters on December 19, during a ceremony at the Banquet Hall. The charter transitioned the universities into an independent status to enable them to offer programmes on their own. Christmas Festivities: FDA cautions public against expired products, contrabands  

The Central Regional office of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has entreated the public to be vigilant when buying prepackaged foods in plastics, cans, bottles and boxes for the Christmas festivity.   Ms Francisca Anokye, the Regional Head of FDA, said the sale of expired products and contrabands to unsuspecting consumers was common during festive seasons and for that reason people must shop cautiously.   She, therefore, warned consumers to be on the lookout for expired products and those not labelled in English as they had not been approved for consumption by the Authority.   While the FDA made efforts to clamp down on such products, it behoved consumers to be proactive to protect their health, Ms Anokye told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on M...

More than 9,000 students graduate from University of Education, Winneba 

A total of 9,575 students are graduating from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in the First Session of the 29th Congregation, which began on Tuesday, December 17 and will end on Saturday, December 21.   The graduating students successfully completed their various programmes of study at the University and its Study Centres.  Out of the number, 250 students, being 2.6 per cent, will receive diplomas, while 8,371 (87.4 per cent) are first degrees, and 954, representing 9.9 percent, will get postgraduate degrees.  In the first degrees category, 812 students (9,7 percent) obtained first class, 2,775 (33.2 percent) had second class upper, 2,949 (35.2 percent) had second class lower, 1,505 (18.0 percent) third class, and 330 students (3.9 percent), obtained a pass.&nb...

“Phone thief pleads in court: “Didn’t know he was a Policeman'”

A 21-year-old driver, Prince Owusu, accused of stealing two mobile phones from a policeman, has pleaded with an Accra Circuit Court for leniency, claiming that he did not know the victim was a policeman. Owusu, along with his accomplice Abu, who remains at large, has been charged with conspiring to steal a Samsung Galaxy A04e phone worth GHC1,800 and a Nokia phone valued at GHC180, both belonging to Detective Sergeant Ben Abdallah Anaaya.
