Akufo-Addo approves visa-free entry to Ghana for all African nationals

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has approved visa-free entry to Ghana for all African nationals. He granted an executive approval on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Ghana will join Rwanda, Seychelles, The Gambia, and Benin as the only African countries offering visa-free entry to all African passport holders. This is in fulfilment of his promise to introduce visa-free travel for citizens of all African nations to Ghana during the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD 2024) in January 2024. This is to improve the free movement of people, goods, and services across the continent, a move that would drive the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by ensuring economic integration. Over-speeding accounts for 60% of road crashes in Central Region

President Akufo-Addo orders security agencies to clamp down post-election disturbances

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the security agencies to work assiduously to clamp down on the disturbances following Ghana's recent December 7 General Election. The rule of law should prevail, he cautioned. "Those who might contemplate using violence to achieve their aims should know this. Washing bay attendant remanded over military uniforms, false pretense 

By A washing bay attendant who posted a video of himself on TikTok wearing military camouflage trousers and vest portraying to be a military officer has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court.  Alex Cobbina, 20, charged with falsely pretending to be a public officer and possession of a military uniform, naval Inner vest, military camouflage nose mask and along boot without permit, pleaded guilty.  Cobbina told the court to forgive him because he did not know his action breached the laws of Ghana.  According to Cobbina, he was the bread winner of the family, adding incarcerating him would bring untold hardship to his family.  The court presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah convicted Cobbina on his own plea but deferred his sentence to January 9, 2025  ...

Court issues warrant against man accused of collecting GHC192,500 in enlistment case 

An Accra Circuit Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Alex Nanaba Amoako, unemployed, for allegedly defrauding 341 persons.  Amoako is alleged to have collected a total of GHC 192,500 from the victims under the pretext of enlisting them into Ghana’s security agencies but failed.  Amoako is alleged to have collected GHC40,000 from Kennedy Kusi, the first complainant to enlist 75 people into Ghana’s security services, and GHC152,500 from Samuel Adjetey Mensah, the second complainant to enlist 266 persons.  He has been charged with two counts of defrauding by false pretenses.  When the matter was called, the accused, Amoako, 37, was absent but the complainant was present.  The prosecution led by Chief Inspector Daniel Danku therefore prayed for...
