The Black Queens of Ghana completed their preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a 3-1 loss to Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Sunday.
Despite a magnificent performance against one of Africa’s best teams, the Black Queens were unable to maintain their winning streak from previous games against Malawi and Benin.
The Super Falcons who have won the WAFCON a record 11-times, took the lead in the 34th minute through a deflected shot from Chiwendu Iheazou, and Asisat Oshoala doubled the lead 10 minutes later with a penalty kick.

In the second half, the Falcons of Nigeria made it three through Rasheed Ajibade in the 50th minute as they dominated play
The Black Queens intensified their attack in the latter stages of the games and Alice Kusi pulled one back from a spot kick in the 88th minute, making the final score 3-1.
The Black Queens of Ghana would open their WAFCON campaign with a match against South Africa on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Ghana’s Black Queens would play Mali in their second match and then finish their group stage campaign with a match against Tanzania.
