In a major step toward improving safety and security across the Ashanti Region, the Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has announced a two-year contract with Prefos Company Ltd. to maintain key sections of the street lighting network. This initiative, facilitated through the intervention of the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, has been awarded through the Highway Authority.
The maintenance contract will cover two critical routes like Ejisu Abenase to Tech Police Station and Suame to Buoho and other areas.
In addition to this agreement, Dr. Amoakohene has directed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to take responsibility for street lighting in their respective areas to ensure no community is left in darkness. He also secured the commitment of the Roads Minister to extend maintenance efforts to other areas within the region.
Earlier today, the Regional Minister attended the official site handing-over ceremony and visited the Prefos Training Center and Factory, where street lights are assembled. He commended the company’s efforts in local manufacturing and skill development, highlighting their role in boosting employment and fostering regional self-reliance in infrastructure development.
Dr. Amoakohene reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making the Ashanti Region safer, brighter, and more developed. He called on stakeholders and residents to support the initiative, ensuring a well-lit and secure environment for all.
