A major breakthrough has been recorded in Ghana’s fight against cybercrime following the arrest of 32 Nigerian nationals suspected to be operating a large-scale romance scam syndicate at Kasoa Tuba in the Central Region.
The arrest was carried out in the early hours of the morning through a joint operation between the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and National Security.
Confirming the development, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation and Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George, commended the Cyber Security Authority for what he described as another decisive blow against cybercriminal activities in the country.

“Kudos to the team at the Cyber Security Authority once again. This dawn, another massive blow has been struck against cybercrime in Ghana,” the Minister stated.
According to him, the suspects were allegedly involved in coordinated romance scams targeting unsuspecting victims, both locally and internationally. He emphasized that government remains committed to strengthening cybersecurity enforcement and inter-agency collaboration to curb the growing menace.
Mr. George reiterated government’s resolve to support the Cyber Security Authority with the needed resources and policy backing to ensure Ghana does not become a safe haven for cybercriminals.
“We will continue to support the Authority in its efforts to do more as we make Ghana an unattractive destination for cybercrimes,” he added.
The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be processed in accordance with Ghanaian law, as investigations continue into the full scope of the alleged syndicate’s operations.
The Cyber Security Authority has in recent months intensified operations against cybercrime networks, working closely with national security agencies to safeguard Ghana’s digital space and international reputation.
