Ghanaian National Pleads Guilty To Stealing More Than $10 Million Via Romance Scams

32 Nigerians Arrested in Kasoa Over Alleged Romance Scam Syndicate

A major breakthrough has been recorded in Ghana’s fight against cybercrime following the arrest of 32 Nigerian nationals suspected to be operating a large-scale romance scam syndicate at Kasoa Tuba in the Central Region. The arrest was carried out in the early hours of the morning through a joint operation between the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and National Security. Ex-convict remanded over alleged romance scam, sexual extortion

An ex-convict, Michael Tumi, has been remanded into police custody for his alleged involvement in a romance scam and acts of sexual extortion. He was arrested by the Police shortly after serving a sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison. Tumi has been jointly charged with three others for sexual extortion, non-consensual sharing of intimate images, and two counts of conspiracy to commit crime related to sexual extortion. The court, presided over by Mrs Susan Eduful, did not take Tumi’s plea. This followed a submission by Chief Inspector Margaret Ofori Boadi, who told the court that investigations were ongoing, with aspects extended to Nsawam Prisons.
