The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released provisional results for candidates who sat for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates (Ghana Only Version).
In a statement issued by the Head of Public Affairs at the National Office, John K. Kapi, WAEC announced that login credentials will be distributed directly to Heads of Senior High Schools to allow them to access and download results on behalf of their students.
The Council confirmed that results have been uploaded to its official online portal, and students who wish to check their own results can do so via the WAEC website, while reminding the public that the official website remains the only secure channel for accessing results.

Performance Overview
A total of 461,736 students from 1,021 Senior High Schools registered for the 2025 exams, comprising 207,415 males and 254,321 females. This reflects a 0.24% increase in candidate registration compared to 2024, which recorded 460,611 applicants. WAEC also disclosed that 5,821 candidates (1.26%) were absent from the examination.
Core Subject Performance (A1–C6)
According to the published results:
- English Language: 289,673 candidates (69.00%) secured A1–C6
- Core Mathematics: 209,068 candidates (48.73%) passed with A1–C6
- Integrated Science: 220,806 candidates (57.74%) obtained A1–C6
- Social Studies: 248,538 candidates (55.82%) earned A1–C6
The Council noted a decline in Core Mathematics performance, which dropped sharply from 66.86% in 2024 to 48.73% in 2025. Other core subjects recorded moderate fluctuations over the past four years, with Social Studies and Mathematics showing particularly unstable trends.
Examination Malpractice and Sanctions
Following investigations by the Ghana Examinations Committee at its 40th meeting held on November 17, 2025, WAEC approved several sanctions for exam breaches:
- 6,295 candidates had subject results cancelled for bringing unauthorized materials such as textbooks, printed prepared notes, and foreign papers into exam halls.
- 653 candidates had their entire results cancelled for being caught with mobile phones inside examination halls.
- 158 candidates’ entire results and 908 subject results have been withheld over suspected irregularities.
Additionally, results from 185 schools remain withheld due to alleged collusion, with final decisions expected by December 2025. WAEC assures these results will be released before the end of December, depending on the outcome of investigations.
Teachers Implicated, Disciplinary Action Awaits
WAEC further revealed that 35 individuals, including 19 teachers, were found culpable of examination compromise. While 19 of them have already been convicted in court, the remaining 16 suspects are awaiting prosecution by the Ghana Police Service.
The Council confirmed that the list of implicated teachers will be forwarded to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for further disciplinary action beyond court rulings.
WAEC Warns Public of Result Upgrade Fraud
WAEC has strongly cautioned students, parents, and institutions to ignore syndicates and fraudsters claiming to offer result upgrades for a fee, emphasizing that all WASSCE results are encrypted, secured, and can be authenticated via WAEC’s official verification system.
Gratitude and Next Steps
WAEC expressed appreciation to stakeholders including the Ministry of Education, GES, security agencies, school heads, supervisors, invigilators, examiners, and partners for their support in the successful conduct of the exams.
Signed by John K. K. Kapi, WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding examination integrity and ensuring timely access to verified results for all students.
