Two Arrested for Unlawful Possession and Discharge of Firearms at Funeral

The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for the illegal possession and discharge of firearms during a funeral celebration. According to a statement from the Public Affairs Directorate of the Regional Police Headquarters, the suspects, identified as Frank Afoko (41) and Kojo Agyapong (31), were apprehended on April 2, 2025, at about 2:00 PM by the Western North Police Intelligence Department. The arrest was carried out with the support of the Formed Police Unit. The police began investigations after a viral video, recorded at a funeral in Attakrom near Bibiani on March 14, 2025, showed several individuals openly firing weapons without legal authorization. Three candidates have successfully filed their nomination forms to contest the upcoming Council of State election in the Western North Region.
