The Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), in collaboration with RISE-Ghana and the National Youth Authority (NYA), has organized a youth parliamentary debate in the Garu District of the Upper East Region to raise awareness and mobilize action against violent extremism. Thirteen nurses in Upper East vacated post in 2024- Director  

A total of 13 nurses in the Upper East Region vacated post in 2024, Dr Samuel Kwabena Boakye-Boateng, the Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has said.    He said apart from that, number, 96 were posted out of the Region, while three resigned within the same year, and indicated that with a target of 0.55 nurse population geographical equity index, 0.40 was recorded in 2023 and 0.39 in 2024.   On doctors, the Director said the year under review witnessed increased number of doctors in the Region, which reduced the doctor population ratio from 1:18,979 in 2023 to 1:17,833 in 2024.   Dr Boakye-Boateng, who has been reassigned to the GHS Headquarters as Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division (PPMED), disclosed this in his ...

One soldier dead, six others injured in military vehicle crash near Zebilla  

One soldier has died while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries, after a fatal road crash at Saka near Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.  The incident which involved a Ghana Armed Forces light-armoured vehicle is said to have occurred around 1600 hours on Saturday, February 22, 2025.  Eyewitness account to the Ghana News Agency, indicated that the vehicle was moving from the direction of Bawku towards Bolgatanga at top speed, when one of its tyres suddenly detached from it, causing the driver to lose control, leading to the accident.   The identities of the deceased and the other officers are yet to be made known, however the injured soldiers were rushed to the Zebilla government hospital for treatment and later airlifted to Ac...

MTN Ghana replenishes blood banks in Upper East

MTN Ghana, a leading mobile telecommunication network has organised a blood donation exercise in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, to help replenish blood banks of health facilities. The exercise which formed part of MTN Ghana’s Foundation’s project dubbed “Save a Life,” was part of efforts to restock the blood banks of the health facilities in the region, particularly the Regional Hospital in Bolgatanga, to help save lives and effectively respond to emergencies. The exercise, held at the Bolgatanga Senior High School (Big Boss) and Zamse Senior High Technical School (Zamstec) in collaboration with the Upper East Regional Hospital Blood Bank collected 121 pints of blood at the end of the exercise.
