A Deputy Registrar Shot Dead, Two Months After Promotion

A Deputy Registrar of the Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU), Alhassan Azumah has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.   The deceased was promoted to the rank of Deputy Registrar in the university about two months ago. The late Alhassan Azumah Information gathered by Graphic Online from some sources within the university indicates that two gunmen on a motorbike shot him multiple times around 7pm on Wednesday (January 17, 2024) outside his residence in Sokabisi, a suburb of Bolgatanga. He was walking around his residence when the unknown assailants surfaced, shot him, and sped off. Mr Azumah’s death has shocked both the staff and students of the university. Source: graphic online

Police Arrest One Person Over Death of 22 year old in Yorogo a Suburb of Bolga Central

The Police have arrested one person in connection with the death of a 22-year-old man at Yorogo, a suburb of Bolga Central in the Upper East Region. Preliminary Police report indicates that the suspect, Abotiyariba Aduko, stabbed the deceased, identified as Asobire Akuta during a fight yesterday 19th December 2023 about 6:30pm. The deceased victim was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical authorities. Suspect Abotiyariba Aduko is currently in Police custody assisting the investigation.

Remembrance Day Parade held in Bolgatanga

A parade of personnel of the various security agencies and a solemn wreath-laying ceremony have been held in honour of officers who died in World War I and II. The ceremony held at the regional Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG) Cenotaph in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region was also to pay tribute to security personnel who have died in the line of duty in the nation. The parade was made up of personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service and Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). NGO donates laptops and bags to Bolgatanga Preparatory School

Global Prayer Arena, a non-governmental organization based in the United Kingdom (UK), has donated 20 laptops and accessories, including a modem to the Bolgatanga Preparatory School in the Upper East Region. The donation was facilitated by Colonel James Bugbilla Sabia, an old student of the school, to enhance the teaching and learning of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) subject. The NGO also donated 300 school bags, three footballs, soft drinks, and biscuits to mark the return of the school children to school for the new academic year at a total cost of more than GH₵50,000.00. One Robbery Suspect Shot Dead, Police Pursue Others

On the afternoon of February 27, 2022, Police in the Upper East Region gunned down a suspected robber during a shootout at the Nyariga Forest along the Bolgatanga-Nyariga stretch. The Police team, while on patrols, responded to intelligence gathered that armed robbers were attacking traders from the Nyariga market. Upon getting to the said location, the team encountered three young men wielding pump-action guns. The robbers engaged the Police in a shootout and one was gunned down in the process but the two others managed to escape. 4 feared dead, others injured in accident on Tamale-Bolga road

At least four persons are feared dead with others injured in an accident involving market women on the Tamale-Bolgatanga road. Reports indicate the accident occurred last night between Diari and Savelugu while they were travelling from Pishigu in the Karaga District. Though the cause of the accident was not immediately known, the truck with registration number NR 7064-G is said to have veered off the road in the middle of the journey. According to a witness, Christopher Amoako, most of the traders were trapped under bags of maize and soya beans which the truck was transporting.
