Speaker of Parliament commends Niger’s commitment to nation-building

The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has commended the Republic of Niger for its commitment to nation-building through the inauguration of the Consultative Council for Rebuilding.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Niamey, Niger, Mr Bagbin praised the council as a symbol of unity for the Nigerien people.

“Nation-building is a continuous journey of hard work in motion, an unending journey of renewal and improvement.

“Lasting reforms emerge, not from isolation, but from inclusive conversations that bring together diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences,” a statement issued by the Media Relations Department of Parliament on Monday said.

It said: “Ghana stands ready to support Niger’s nation-rebuilding journey in whatever capacity we can. You will never walk alone.”

The statement quoted Mr Bagbin as highlighting the historical and blood ties between Ghana and Niger, emphasizing the need for collaboration to defeat terrorism and enhance trade.

It also commended Niger’s commitment to participatory governance and the establishment of the Consultative Council.

According to the statement, the Speaker proposed that the Consultative Council took interest in Ghana’s Constitutional Review process and shared experiences.

“The consultative council for rebuilding is a significant milestone in Niger’s quest for national cohesion and development,” it said.

Speaker Bagbin emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in nation-building, citing Ghana’s own experiences.

It concluded by wishing the Consultative Council success in its noble endeavours and looking forward to witnessing the positive transformations that would emerge from its work.
