The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has strongly condemned a disturbing incident captured in a viral social media video, where a man reported to be a landlor—is seen brutally assaulting a woman alleged to be his wife.
In a statement issued by the Ministry’s Public Affairs Unit, MoGCSP stressed that no individual has the right to subject another person to violence or abuse under any circumstances. The Ministry described the act as “barbaric” and emphasized that it constitutes a severe violation of the victim’s rights, which is punishable under Ghanaian law.
According to the Ministry, the sector Minister has already contacted the Ghana Police Service to ensure a thorough investigation is launched and that justice is delivered swiftly. MoGCSP further urged anyone with relevant information to assist law enforcement agencies in their inquiries.

The statement highlighted the broader issue of domestic and sexual-based violence, describing it as a national concern that requires collective action. The Ministry called on the public to report such incidents promptly to help protect vulnerable individuals and ensure perpetrators are held accountable.
MoGCSP reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders across the country to combat domestic violence and ensure offenders face the full rigours of the law.
The public is encouraged to report any cases or suspicions of abuse through the Domestic Violence Call Centre at 0800-111-222, the Ministry’s Helpline of Hope at 0800-800-800 / 0800-900-900, or by visiting the nearest police station.
