The Manhyia Palace has released a public announcement reminding chiefs, traditional leaders, and members of the public attending the final burial rites (Dote Yie) of the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa (1927–2025), to strictly comply with safety regulations put in place for the ceremony scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025.
According to the announcement, the use of live ammunition has been strictly prohibited during the event. However, the firing of muskets, a long-standing traditional practice, will be permitted under one condition: they must be discharged only into the sky, and not directed at any individual or towards the ground.
The Palace further cautioned that any violations of these directives will result in immediate arrest and appropriate legal action.

“All attendees are urged to strictly adhere to these regulations to ensure a safe and orderly burial ceremony,” the statement, signed by the Funeral Planning Committee, emphasized.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who served as the Asantehemaa (Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom), passed away earlier this year at the age of 98. Her funeral rites are expected to attract thousands, including royals, chiefs, government officials, and mourners from across Ghana and beyond.
The Palace’s directive underscores efforts to maintain peace, safety, and dignity during the highly significant cultural event, which forms part of the rich traditions of the Ashanti Kingdom.
