Man Arrested for Alleged Assault Following Motor Accident at Maamobi

The Kotobabi District Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with an assault incident that occurred after a motor accident in Maamobi, Accra.

According to police reports, the incident took place on Saturday, 22nd February 2026, when officers on routine patrol came across the victim, Yakubu Manan Abdul, aged 24. Abdul reported that he had been involved in a motor accident with the suspect, Razak Kwanda.

Preliminary investigations indicate that during the course of the accident, the suspect allegedly attacked and assaulted the victim, causing injuries. The police patrol team immediately conveyed the victim and his damaged motorbike to the Kotobabi Police Station, where a formal complaint was lodged and investigations began.

On Thursday, 26th February 2026, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Kwanda was arrested and is currently on police enquiry bail while assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against resorting to violence during road traffic accidents or disputes. Citizens are urged to remain calm and allow authorities to handle such matters in accordance with the law.

The Command also assured the public of its commitment to maintaining law and order and called on anyone with relevant information to assist the police in the investigation.
