Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling government to demonstrate maturity, composure, and leadership in the national interest, stressing that Ghana’s progress must remain people-centred.
Speaking in his capacity as Chief Presidential Observer, Mr. Mahama said the country’s development agenda should be guided by policies that deliver real and measurable benefits to citizens. He emphasized that leadership must be anchored in actions rather than rhetoric, in line with his long-held principle of Acta Non Verba.
The former President made these remarks at the sod-cutting ceremony for TDC’s New Oxygen City housing project in Ho, in the Volta Region. Addressing residents and potential investors, Mr. Mahama encouraged the public to invest confidently in the project, assuring them of government’s commitment to making home ownership more accessible.

He disclosed that measures are being put in place to ease access to financing for prospective buyers, noting that affordable housing remains a critical pillar of national development. Mr. Mahama further assured the public that the land acquired by the Ministry of Works and Housing for the project is free from all encumbrances, a move he said is intended to protect the interests of future homeowners.
According to him, the New Oxygen City project will deliver a minimum of 1,800 apartments, alongside recreational facilities and modern shopping spaces, creating a well-planned and sustainable living environment.
Mr. Mahama therefore urged Ghanaians to take advantage of the prevailing economic conditions and invest in government-backed housing schemes, describing the initiative as a strategic opportunity for both individual security and national growth.
