Macclesfield FC Mourns the Tragic Passing of Young Forward Ethan McLeod

Macclesfield FC has announced, with profound sadness, the death of 21-year-old forward Ethan McLeod, following a tragic car accident on the M1 on Saturday night.

The club confirmed that Ethan was travelling back from Macclesfield’s away fixture against Bedford Town when the accident occurred, claiming the life of a player widely regarded as one of the club’s brightest young talents.

Ethan was a key member of the First Team squad and was admired not only for his footballing ability but also for his character. Teammates, coaches, and staff have described him as a consummate professional whose commitment, work ethic, and passion consistently raised standards both on and off the pitch.

Beyond his performances in matches and training, Ethan was known for his infectious personality and love for life, qualities that endeared him to everyone he encountered. His positive spirit and trademark smile brought light even in difficult moments, leaving a lasting impression across the club.

In a statement, Macclesfield FC said the news has devastated the entire club, adding that the sense of loss is immeasurable. While the pain of his passing will never fully fade, the club emphasized that Ethan’s legacy — as a footballer, teammate, and person — will live on for years to come.

The club has extended its deepest sympathies to Ethan’s family and friends during what it described as a deeply traumatic time, assuring them of its full support.

Ethan McLeod will be remembered not only as a talented forward, but as a cherished member of the Macclesfield FC family.

May he rest in peace. Ethan will forever be a Silkman.
