Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has once again drawn attention to its rich football heritage, as details of the club’s historic domestic successes resurface alongside a new administrative appointment at the national level.
The Phobians remain one of Ghana’s most decorated football clubs, with an illustrious record in the top flight. Hearts of Oak have been crowned Premier League champions on 20 occasions, spanning generations of dominance — from their early triumphs in 1956 and 1958, through multiple title-winning eras in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, to their most recent league success in the 2021/2022 season.
In addition to league glory, the club has also enjoyed significant success in the FA Cup, lifting the prestigious trophy 12 times. Their FA Cup victories include memorable wins in 1973, 1974, 1979, 1983, 1989, 1990, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2000, 2021, and 2022, underlining Hearts of Oak’s enduring competitiveness in Ghanaian football.

Beyond achievements on the pitch, the club continues to strengthen its organizational structures. In a Letter of Appointment issued by the National Chapters Committee (NCC), the committee formally confirmed the appointment of a new executive member to serve on the NCC of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, with immediate effect.
According to the letter, the appointment follows discussions held a few weeks earlier and is in line with Chapter Bylaws, which empower the NCC to appoint four executive members, including a mandatory female representative, to support its work during the committee’s term of office. The NCC expressed confidence in the appointee’s ability to contribute positively to the growth and coordination of Hearts of Oak chapters nationwide.
The committee concluded the letter by extending its sports regards and expressing anticipation of the appointee’s formal acceptance.
With a legacy built on trophies and a future shaped by strong administration, Accra Hearts of Oak continue to position themselves as a powerhouse both on and off the field of play.
