Christians admonished to uphold peace

Mr Thomas Gyamfi, the Session Clerk of the Good Shepherd Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Fankyenebra in Kumasi has admonished Christians to live a peaceful life as Jesus Christ is peace.

He explained that living at peace with everyone excluded quarrelling, gossiping, backbiting, hatred, extreme anger and others which interfered with sound mind and calmness.

Mr Gyamfi was preaching during a Christmas Day church service held to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ at Fankyenebra under the theme; Peace.

The congregants were clothed in their beautifully made Christmas clothes as the members of the Women’s Fellowship were dressed in their pure white uniforms to remember the birth of Jesus Christ.

The church auditorium was decorated with Christmas ornaments in colours of red, green, blue and white to emulate the season’s festivity.

Basing his preaching on the Gospel according to Saint Luke 2:1-20, Mr Gyamfi noted that the birth of Jesus Christ signified peace and trust in God.

He indicated that fear took over when a person had no peace, hence, begun to doubt the existence of God and approached life without trusting in God.

“Having faith in God allows us to let go of things which can distort our peace and plunge us in a period of living in fear,” he said.

He encouraged Christians and believers to hold steadfastly to the faith they have in God through Jesus Christ so that they could live at peace with everyone as Jesus Christ did.
