Ellembelle District implements 15 Mineral Development-Funded Projects 

The Ellembelle District Assembly has steadily progressed with its implementation of 15 Minerals Development-Funded (MDF) projects, between 2020 and 2024 within its communities. The projects are being undertaken and monitored in collaboration with Friends of the Nation (FoN), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), under the ‘Fair 4 All Agriculture and Extractive Value Chains projects’. Out of the 15 projects, 11 have been completed and two are on-ongoing, with the additional two yet to commence. Cease all mining activities in, around water bodies now -EPA cautions miners

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) Tuesday issued a directive to all individuals and entities involved in illegal mining (galamsey) in and near water bodies to cease with immediate effect. The directive is in accordance with Section 2 and 3b(ii) of the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124), the EPA said in a statement signed by its acting Chief Executive Officer, Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse. The directive it said applied to all unauthorised mining activities. Hence, the EPA, Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology, Minerals Commission, Water Resources Commission and the relevant security agencies would seize equipment used in illegal mining operations in line with applicable laws. Mr Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, on Tuesday warned Members of Parliament (MPs) that any involvement in illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, will face severe repercussions.  ".... The Winneba High Court has issued an order for substituted service on Crownville Enterprise Limited, owners of a telecommunication mast at Gomoa Mpota near Winneba Junction for being elusive in an ongoing case brought against the company. The company has been dragged to court by Madam Elizabeth Awo Senah, a resident of Winneba, over a GHS15,845 debt being ground rent arrears owed her. Alliance urges capture of NCDs on NHIS medication lists
