Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has officially launched the Heritage Village initiative by Goldbod Jewellery, a strategic platform aimed at promoting locally crafted gold jewellery while advancing Ghana’s value-added industrialisation agenda.
The initiative, spearheaded by Gertrude Emefa Donkor, reflects a growing national push to transition from the export of raw gold to the production of refined, high-value products. It is also designed to empower local artisans and strengthen Ghana’s creative economy.
Held in line with the celebration of Ghana Month, the three-day event positions gold not merely as a natural resource, but as a symbol of national pride, innovation, and economic transformation.

Speaking at the launch, the Vice President commended the organisers for their contribution to Ghana’s industrialisation drive, highlighting the importance of initiatives that nurture globally competitive local businesses. She noted that platforms like Heritage Village play a critical role in shaping the future of enterprise development in the country.
“Ghana’s future growth lies in its ability to create, innovate, and build resilient industries,” she stated, expressing optimism that the initiative will continue to inspire excellence and support artisans across the value chain.
The Heritage Village initiative is expected to serve as a catalyst for sustainable economic progress, offering opportunities for local jewellers to showcase their craftsmanship while contributing to Ghana’s broader vision of economic transformation through value addition.
