Two people have died after a private microlight helicopter crash-landed into a preschool at Tema Community 1 on Monday afternoon.
The aircraft, identified as a private microlight helicopter with registration G9-ADV, was travelling from Ho to make Accra when it crashed into the TMA Daycare Preschool at Site 18 in Tema.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the incident occurred around 2:59 p.m. Firefighters from the Tema Metro Fire Station responded swiftly, arriving at the scene within three minutes of receiving the distress report.

Upon impact, the aircraft burst into flames, but firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. Rescue teams then worked carefully to retrieve the bodies of the two male occupants who were trapped in the mangled wreckage of the helicopter.
The bodies were later handed over to the Ghana Police Service for preservation and further investigations.
Despite the severity of the crash, all occupants of the preschool escaped unharmed. However, parts of the school building sustained damage from the impact.
Officials from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service are currently managing the scene while investigations continue into the cause of the crash. The area has been cordoned off, with police maintaining security to preserve the site.
Regional commanders of both the fire service and police in Tema were present at the scene to supervise emergency operations and ensure effective management of the incident.
Authorities say more details will be released as investigations progress.
