Dagbon King Mourns Victims of Dampia Range Helicopter Crash

His Royal Majesty Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II, King of Dagbon, has expressed profound grief over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives at the Dampia Range Forest Reserve in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region. In a statement, the King extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of Ghana, the bereaved families, and all those affected by the national tragedy, describing it as one of the most devastating incidents in recent history. Activista Ghana intensifies campaign on youth participation in community development 

The Northern Region Chapter of Activista Ghana, a youth-led advocacy group, has intensified its campaign to promote active youth participation in communal and national development.  Over the past three months, the group organized series of engagement for districts such as Yendi, Mion, Bimbilla, Kpandai, Wulensi, and Kumbungu.   The exercises formed part of ongoing efforts to stimulate interest among young people in sustainable community development.  The sessions were focused on leadership and communication skills, advocacy and campaign planning, community engagement strategies, and reporting skills.  Mr Issahaku Abdul-Latif, Northern Region Coordinator of Activista Ghana, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Tamale, that the initiative was to...

PIAC unhappy with execution of oil-funded projects in Yendi  

The Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has expressed dissatisfaction with the state of oil-funded projects in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region.   This came to light at the start of a three-day inspection tour by PIAC members to assess projects financed through the Annual Budget Funding Amount (ABFA) from Ghana’s petroleum revenue.   Projects visited included the construction of the Yendi–Saboba road, estimated to cost more than GH¢4.46 million, the construction of a double 2Mx2M box culvert (Phase One) on the Gamandze–Paansiya link road at a cost of GH¢296,158.70; and the upgrading of sections of the same road from earth to gravel surface, valued at GH¢102,454.95.   Others were the construction of a double 2Mx2M box culvert and U-c...

Water Minister assures Ya-Na of permanently resolving Yendi, Tamale water crisis 

Mr Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources has assured Ya-Na Abukari II, Overlord of Dagbon, of government’s commitment to resolving the perennial water crisis affecting the Northern Region especially Tamale and Yendi.  Speaking during a courtesy call on the Ya-Na at the Gbewaa Palace at Yendi on Wednesday, Mr Adjei reiterated President John Dramani Mahama's pledge to end the water crisis before the end of his tenure.  He said strategic deliberations were underway to permanently resolve the crisis and enhance socio-economic development in the affected areas.   He said technical teams from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) were currently working to replace outdated and malfunctioning equipment to provide temporary relief to residen...
