UN envoy applauds Ghana’s Election Security Taskforce for peaceful polls
Mr. Leonardo Santos Simão, UN Special Representative for West Africa, has commended Ghana's National Election Security Taskforce (NESTF) for implementing strong security measures that contributed to ensuring peaceful elections.
“Your results and your example will inspire other countries in West Africa, in the Sahel, and the rest of the continent. Peaceful elections are not by chance but by deliberate and dedicated efforts,” he said at a meeting with members of the taskforce in Accra on Monday.
Mr. Simão, joined by Mr. Charles Abani, UN Resident Coordinator in Ghana, and other diplomats, commended the leadership of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police and Chair of the NESTF, for ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
