Sunyani Teaching Hospital welcomes two babies on Christmas eve   

Two babies (females) were born on Christmas eve at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital (STH), Mrs Eunice Oppong-Amoah, the Director In-charge of Nursing and Midwifery at the Hospital has said.  She told the GNA in an interview that so far, the facility had recorded six births, comprising five females and a male between Wednesday December 24 and Friday December 26.  Mrs Oppong-Amoah spoke to the GNA when MTN Ghana, a telecommunication company presented 30 Christmas hampers to some newborns at the STH and the Berekum Holy Family Catholic in the Bono Region Hospital on Friday.  Each of the hampers contained baby towel, sponge, detergent, powder, pomade, soaps, toy, among others.    Mrs Oppong-Amoah indicated that though some of the babies were born through Caesarean Section (CS), all the babies and...

Sunyani Teaching Hospital in desperate need of blood – Biomedical Scientist

The Sunyani Teaching Hospital is experiencing an acute blood shortage, Mr Enoch Gyau, a biomedical scientist and the Unit Head of the hospital’s blood bank has said. Basically, the shortage he added was due to the upgrade of the hospital, saying that had increased referrals from sister-facilities, especially facilities in rural communities, and appealed to the public to voluntarily donate blood to re-stock the blood bank. Mr Gyau made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani on the side-lines of blood donation exercises the hospital in collaboration with MTN Ghana Foundation organised and held at the Sunyani Senior High and Twene Amanfo Technical and Senior High Schools.
