Soldiers removed Alhaji Seidu Abagre from Bawku – Interior Ministry

The Minister of Interior, Mubarak Muntaka has Wednesday December 24, 2025, has confirmed in a press statement that Personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have removed Alhaji Seidu Abagre, the rival Mamprusi chief, from Bawku Township in the Upper East Region. ‎The action follows recommendations made by the mediation committee led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as part of efforts to resolve the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy conflict. ‎According to the ministry, soldiers escorted Alhaji Seidu Abagre out of Bawku in line with the Otumfuo mediation report. Interior Minister engages Zabzugu Chief on peace efforts 

Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister of Interior, has urged the Paramount Chief of Zabzugu, Yelzoli-Lana Iddrisu Imoro, and his elders to support government efforts to maintain peace and stability in the Northern Region.  During a stakeholder engagement visit, Alhaji Muntaka stressed the need for unity and dialogue to resolve conflicts and promote community development.  The Paramount Chief praised the Minister’s visit and commitment to peace, assuring continued support for government initiatives and harmony in the area.  The visit formed part of the Minister’s wider efforts to engage stakeholders and enhance security in the Northern Region.  Source: GNA
