EPA Bans Fabrication, Importation, Sale, and Use of “Chanfan” Machines in Ghana
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has announced a nationwide ban on the fabrication, importation, sale, and use of “Chanfan” machines, citing their devastating environmental impact on the nation’s water bodies and ecosystems.
In a statement issued by the Authority, the EPA revealed that the fabrication of these machines has been ongoing without the required permits or environmental authorization, in clear violation of the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124) and the Environmental Assessment Regulations, 2025 (L.I. 2504).
