DRAW PROCEDURE: TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has confirmed the draw procedure of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 Final Draw. The Final Draw will take place on Wednesday, 15 January at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya and will feature 19 nations, including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, as well as defending champions, Senegal. Two nations must still be confirmed through a series of qualifier matches ahead of the August 2025 tournament. The Draw for the finals of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania 2024 was staged in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday, 15 January and has delivered some exciting encounters for the tournament that will be played in August 2025. Kenya were the seeds as hosts in Group A and have been drawn with two-time winners Morocco and DR Congo, as well as Angola and Zambia, in a pool packed with past champions and quality teams. Tanzania were the seeds as hosts in Group B and will take on Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and Central African Republic in their pool. The Media Accreditation application window for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 will reopen from Monday, 6 January to Thursday, 9 January 2025 The eighth edition of the CHAN tournament will take place in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from 1 – 28 February 2025. The finals will be contested by nineteen (19) countries made up of the three host nations, three qualified nations from each of CAF’s other five Zonal Unions, as well as a single slot reserved for the best performing team from the CECAFA region. CAF President Dr Motsepe begins two-day tour of CHAN 2024 Host Nations in Tanzania on Thursday

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) President Dr Patrice Motsepe began his two-day tour of the nations that will host the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) with a visit to Tanzania on Thursday, 19 December 2024. Dr Motsepe visited Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar on Thursday. He will travel to Kenya and Uganda on Friday where he will meet with the Heads of State and football leadership in the two countries. In Tanzania, the CAF President visited the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam where he inspected its readiness to host matches in the CHAN competition. The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) President Dr Patrice Motsepe today met  Kenya Head of State, President William Ruto at State House in Nairobi, Kenya on Friday, 20 December 2024. Dr Motsepe was in Kenya as part of his working visit to the three countries that will host the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship 2024 (“CHAN”). Yesterday, he was in Tanzania.
