Police have arrested a commercial bus driver and his mate after intercepting a Savelugu-bound bus carrying a large cache of ammunition. The suspects, Mohammed Gzali (42) and Mohammed Jabir, were arrested on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at about 7:00 p.m. at the Kantanso–Asankare Police Barrier during a routine inspection of a Kia Grand Bird bus (AK 1309–21) travelling from Accra to Tamale and Savelugu. A search of the vehicle uncovered a fertiliser sack hidden among passengers’ luggage, containing 1,050 rounds of AAA and BB cartridges.
