Savelugu: Police Arrest Three For Alleged Weapon Smuggling

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three individuals suspected of smuggling weapons in Savelugu, following an intelligence-led operation.

The suspects—Gaba Abdallah Alhassan, Alhassan Abdallah, and Alhassan Abdul Kudus—were apprehended on May 1, 2025, at various hideouts within the area.

During the operation, police retrieved a cache of weapons and ammunition, including:

  • One AK-47 rifle
  • One submachine gun (SMG)
  • One Smith & Wesson SD40 VE pistol
  • One single-barrel shotgun
  • Two magazines
  • 15 rounds of AK-47 ammunition
  • 13 rounds of pistol ammunition
  • An additional 27 rounds of assorted ammunition
  • Five rounds of BB cartridges

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities have assured the public that the suspects will be processed through the legal system and made to face the full rigors of the law.

Police reaffirm their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region and urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
